Such Strangeness
There's one night in December every year, when all writers, artistes, crazies, drunkards, posers and potheads come together to read poetry, catch up on gossip, and get spectacularly, smashingly wasted - U.P. Writers' Night. This year, it was held at the Hardin Ng Mga Diwata, CAL Faculty Center.
My gay husband flew in from Dumaguete to join in the festivities (as well as to attend the launching of his book in CCP the night before). As usual, I saw old friends, new friends, ex-friends, sometime lovers, and future ex-husbands, all of whom were enjoying the supreme strangefest that was Writers' Night. It ended with a tour of U.P., and dinner with my little seester and my favorite boys, Ian and Neil .
To wit, some photos.
Hugs. Pretty poets Kit Kwe and Marie La Vina.
I look like a mother. And the kids: Marie, Marvi and Gabs. Photo by Kit Kwe.
The back of poet and teacher Ralph Galan's head. Me getting my fortune told by him, with the very amused Gabs looking on. Photo by Kit Kwe.
Self-shot photo with Bicolano poet Mommy Selena Alano. She suffered me and my snoring all throughout May 2004 in Dumaguete, as my roommate, my mother, my anchor.
Mookie Katigbak, Neil Garcia and me. I look like Neil's long-suffering wife, and Mookie could be his hot young mistress, while Neil's the reluctant gay husband. Haha. Photo by Kit Kwe.
Me and the lovely Gabs.
Oh, Ian. Photo by Kit Kwe.
