Clean House

Much of yesterday, the second day of this year, was spent cleaning my room. A brief inventory of the mountains of stuff (no other word for them, really, but that) that I'd found, are as follows:

- roughly 400+ books
new books include: Sexual Intelligence, The G Spot, On Photography, The End of Poverty, Sputnik Sweetheart, and about 30 more. Also found were my old fairytale picture books, and several books on dreams (freud, jung, clement).
- 60-80 DVDs (of various, uhm, legalities). It was also lovely to see all the DVDS that Kim Chua had given me over the years (among them, Krystof Kieslowski's The Decalogue, all the movies of Alfred Hitchcock, and always, Infernal Affairs and The Devil's Backbone).
- 20 bandanas
- 3 hats
- 43 scarves
- more earrings than you care to know
- an old picture of Paul Newman

He was so beautiful when he was younger. Dost thou remember Cat On A Hot Tin Roof? No man ever looked so good drunk, in pajamas, on crutches. Oh yes.

- three new swimsuits (Thanks, Tito!)
- a cat suit that is now too big for me
- 4 1/2 inch summer stillettos
- old journals

To wit, a passage from 2002: I can't believe all I could write about then [in 2001] was love. And I can't believe I have nothing to add to what I knew then, from what I learned since the last time I wrote here.

- many bottles of different kinds of shampoo and conditioner
- lots of candles and incense sticks
- a fabrege egg
- two mugs by Jon Petty John
- five alarm clocks
- the mahogany jewelry box that my grandfather carved for me three years ago
- a small basket full of Brian Vallesteros' amazing art postcards
- an old photo of Glenn Maboloc when he was still in high school, stuck between the pages of Neil Gaiman's Smoke and Mirrors. In the photo, he was still straight (!), he had short hair, and he looked very much like ... a boy. A real live boy!
- a year-old photo of Marie La Vina and me at Conspiracy
- the 1000 Places To See Before You Die desk calendar that Gabriela Lee gave me for Christmas
- D's reading glasses
- a box of green tea
- four packets of Selenium Fiber
- A Canon Selphy CP510 Printer that came with my new Canon Powershot A610
- a money plant
- 200+ CDs
- my iBook
- a large bag full of clothes that need alteration (to make them smaller, yay!)
- a hat box full of CDs with no labels
- Marks and Spencer Swiss Chocolates
- a small bottle of dextrose
- a dull needle
- two iPods
- a face mask
- instruction manuals
- love letters
- compiled readings
- curlers
- handcuffs
- postcards (kahlo, bohol, dumaguete)
- shawls galore (gold, blue, pink, orange, vanilla)
- gifts and pasalubong for friends which I still have to give

Now, as a result of having to clear all that dust (which there was a veritable carpet of, everywhere), I am ill with asthma. I shall need to buy new lungs presently.
